A Royal Navy Midshipman's Dirk, Edward VII, in excellent condition. This item comes with provenance, and has the officer's name engraved on the guard.

Captain Donald Irvine McGillewie, veteran of both World War I and II, was appointed captain of seven submarines and two armed ships.
Captain Donald Irvine McGillewie, R.N. (9 April, 1886 – 29 December, 1948) was born in Dunkeld, Scotland, the son of R. McGillewie, Esq., bank agent.
McGillewie was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 July, 1906, Lieutenant-Commander on 15 July, 1914, and to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1918.
