Mameluke Sabre, Shamshir Blade Mounted on an Ivory Gripped Hilt, Clan Brodie Family Crest
Mameluke Sabre, Shamshir Blade Mounted on an Ivory Gripped Hilt, Clan Brodie Family Crest
Origin: United Kingdom | Culture: British | Period: 18th/19th Century
An outstanding, very curved 18th century Shamshir blade, with damascene patterns, that has been mounted to a well made Mameluke hilt. The scabbard has been made to perfectly fit the blade and sheathes with a satisfying 'click'. The grips are ivory, and the item comes with an ivory declaration number.
This would have been a sabre custom made for a British officer, preferring the opulent look of the very curved shamshir, fashionable at the time, and opting for a British Mameluke overall look.
There is a family crest on the guard in the shape of a fist holding a bunch of arrows(?).
Due to the this being a high value item, collection is preferred. Shipping can be arranged at the buyer's risk, via the buyer's preferred courier, with optional insurance.
