Ethiopian Sword - Empress Zewditu

An imposing Ethiopian sword for a high ranking officer or nobleman, etched with the name of Empress Zewditu.

The sword bears several Amharic inscriptions, and shows traces of having been originally blue and gilt. The blade was custom made by Wilkinson in the UK. 

The inscription at the middle of the blade bears the name of the empress Zewditu in Amharic, 'ዘውዲቱ'.

The velvet-covered scabbard and belt mounts show traces of silver gilt. This style of scabbard can be encountered on some Ethiopian swords, having an elongated and exotic look. The sword enters 95% of the way.
