An excellent 17th century colichemarde smallsword.
Blade etched Si fortuna me tormenta, la esperanza me contenta, which translates as "If Fortune torments me, hope contents me". A version of this phrase was Pistol's famous line "Si fortuna me tormenta, spero me contenta" from William Shakespeare's Henry IV, Part 2 (Act 5, Scene 5). Pistol delivers this line just after the newly crowned King Henry V rejects his old companion Sir John Falstaff and banishes him along with his followers.
This phrase is often encountered on Solingen blades of the 17th century.
