Blue & Gilt Cavalry Sabre by Blake, London
Blue & Gilt Cavalry Sabre by Blake, London
Origin: United Kingdom | Culture: British | Period: 19th Century
Sold
Lovely condition cavalry sabre.
Manufactured by John A. Blake & Co. of 253 Wapping St, London, between 1838 and 1852 (after which they moved to a different address).
Features an excellent curve ending in a spear point, with good condition blue & gilt. The hilt has three bar protection, as well as a carved bone grip. This can indicate either a connection to someone who served in India, or perhaps a piece intended for the American market.
