Silver Mounted Shamshir, Egypt

A very fine silver mounted and ivory hilted middle eastern shamshir sword. Hallmarked mounts and guard, as well as overall shape, point to its distinct 19th century Egyptian origins. The top side of the scabbard chape has been reinforced with more silver.

The ivory hilt gives it an elongated and slim look. Mounted with an 18th century French blade, this is most likely a sword that was crafted shortly after Napoleon's campaign, and utilises an invader's sword to create an authentic shamshir.
