Romanian Officer's De-Royalised Sword

An interesting Romanian Kingdom officer's sword which has been ‘de-royalised' during the communist regime. The portions of the blade where the royal cypher and coat of arms would have been etched are blacked out, and the crown that usually adorns the pommel has been erased. This practice is sometimes encountered on Romanian swords, as any suspicion of loyalty to the deposed monarchs would be punished by many years of imprisonment or forced labour.
